I prayed for ministry here and.....

When I first came I was so snowed with the new place... language... but after a few weeks here I prayed to God..."please let me get involved in a ministry here" hahahhahahaa..... He answered!!! YAY!!!

At the church I am attending here in Antigua, one Sunday morning their pianist wasn't there.. so I told one of the ladies I would be willing to play anytime. Well after church one of the men came up to me and asked me a ton of questions about playing and I said yes to all of his questions!! hahaahaha!! that was a little bit brave of me... cause I didn't know really what he was asking.. you know specifically!! He could have asked me to marry him... hahahahhahahahha So far I've been playing four times a week, and this morning they asked me to play one more service:) I am so glad to help!! So glad to Mrs. Garrison for teaching me all the addings CAUSE they LOVE it!!! :)

do I look 40??

In class today, my teacher is having me read verses from Proverbs. I read them in Spanish and then read it in English. She has me explain the verses in "Spanish" after i read them in both languages. She chose this verse - Prov 15:22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
So, after reading the verse in both languages... I went on to explain that it is dangerous to make descisions without bugs bunny!! HAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!There is only one letter difference in Counsel and Bugs Bunny!! hahaha

SomEtHIng NOT so fUnnY!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the guys in our school who works in the office(I won't mention his name!!) came up to my teacher... he said I know Elise is 40 but she sure looks about 35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!! I am FLattEred!!!!!!!

Something ELSE NOT SO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone has taken my camera!!!!!!!!!! Elise was not a good mommy to her camera MUY TRISTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am playing in every piano in every service here at the church I am attending! I am so excited to be involved in some way... it also helps to get to know the people too! They are precious!
Lord willing soon my teacher is going to help me learn verses to witness! I am excited about that too!

Spanish is coming along well:) I had my first test last week and made a 92! Praise Him!

Thank you all for your encouraging notes and support prayerfully and financially!
Here is my latest prayer letter:)

Dear friends,
How grateful I am to God for my safe arrival here in Antigua, Guatemala. Studying the Spanish language at Christian Spanish Academy has truly been a delightful experience. Upon my arrival, I immediately met my host family, a wonderful widowed lady and her children. Their constant encouragement has been a source of blessing during my time in Guatemala.
Only in my third week of studies, the Spanish language has become a major part of my daily life. The staff has been encouraged to no longer communicate with me in English! Christian Spanish Academy is a five star school with excellent staff and facilities. I have been provided a private tutor who consistently challenges me to new levels of study. Currently, there are many students at the school, and each one is learning the language at a pace of their choice. I am thankful for the professionalism of the school and its staff.
Walking remains the only source of transportation offered by the school administration. Gratefully, the city of Antigua is exceptionally safe and the house in which I stay is only a five minute walk from the school. Visiting the people and places of Guatemala has been an exciting adventure. I have met many sweet children and even visited Ronald McDonald!
Please continue to pray for me as I continue language studies. At times, studying is extensive and there are many pressures and deadlines to fulfill. Knowing God has called me to this task, I watch with eagerness his faithfulness during my time in Guatemala. Your continued prayers and sacrificial giving remain sources of great eternal reward. May God bless each of you.
In His Service,
Elise
